Impark in the News:
Impark awarded parking operations for the city of Miami Beach, Florida
September 15, 2008, Vancouver, BC, Canada
Imperial Parking (U.S.), Inc. (Impark) has been awarded a municipal parking contract by the City of Miami Beach. On August 11th, 2008, Impark assumed responsibility for operations of over 5,000 spaces in the City’s Six (6) parking garages and over twenty (20) surface lots, deploying over 150 employees in the process.
The City parking facilities serve South Beach, Lincoln Road, Mid-Beach, the Miami Beach Convention Center, the Fillmore Theater, and North Beach, as well as supporting international events such as the annual Boat Show and the Auto Show. Given the wide variety of different users of the facilities, the City sought a parking operator with the ability to offer innovative services, providing increased value to parking customers.
Impark’s service initiatives include their signature motorist assistance program (“Parker Pete”) that provides help, at no charge, to patrons at Impark facilities who experience a flat tire, dead battery, or are locked out from their vehicles. Impark will also support the City facilities with a designated personnel coordinator, ‘on-the-spot’ rewards program to recognize exceptional displays of customer service by their employees and a comprehensive uniform package will enhance the profile of City parking operations.
In a memo to the City Commission dated April 16th, 2008 Mr. Jorge M. Gonzalez, the City Manager of the City of Miami Beach, stated: “As this contract is primarily a labor supply agreement, the Impark services and focus on dedicated human resources personnel, its focus on customer service and employee appearance are valuable to the contract being successful and to the value added provided to our customers. The corporate Green philosophy, while not a requirement, aligns nicely with the position City is assuming in this arena.”
“This is a strategically important win for Impark. It demonstrates the company’s ability to respond to the current demands of today’s municipal clients who are seeking more value added services and a more sophisticated approach to parking management. We are looking forward to working with the City of Miami Beach to realize its parking-related goals”, noted Herb Anderson, Impark Vice Chairman & CEO.
